The invigorating and indescribable mystery of existence simmers in the core of my being, sending waves of awe, gratitude, and often enough perplexity through my body, the vehicle of this whole fantastic experience. Life! Just what is it, anyway?
I’ve always heard people ask and answer this question, and I’ve never been satisfied with the various explanations I’ve heard for what it is to be alive. From the childhood that I lived as much in imagination as I did reality, to the wild adventures of my young adulthood, the quest for some clarification on this befuddling issue of conscious awareness and its meaning has driven me onward. Into caves and up mountains, into the forests and the jungles, through the neon glow of cities and bars, and into the writings of spiritual teachers, scientists, philosophers, and poets…ever have I traveled. Knowing my search was less about reaching some final conclusion and more about the experience of the journey, I made sure to enjoy myself along the way, drinking in the sights and sounds, lounging in the grass and diving into the lakes, loving with all my heart, laughing, crying, singing, sitting and just being.
It’s been a wonderful ride thus far, and my joy in being alive abounds, overflowing the vessel through which I experience it, seeping out into the rest of reality through my stories, pictures, songs, poems, rants, chants, and through the twinkle in my eye when I find myself in the presence of someone with whom I get the feeling I might just have a grand adventure.
This website documents the many adventures I’ve had over the years, offering a glimpse into the world as I’ve seen it through the various versions of myself that I’ve been as I’ve aged, moved around, gotten to know different kinds of people, and put my energy into a wide variety of pursuits. The things I’ve discovered along the way have blown the roof off the paradigms my mind tries to construct around everything to make it easier to understand, and the people I’ve known and loved have helped to shape the man that I’ve become. It’s a magical, mysterious world in which we live, and as far as I can tell, being here and experiencing it is all we’ve got to do.
